Amtrak adds trains between Chicago and Mich. for Thanksgiving

Updated: Wednesday, October 17 2012, 12:06 AM EDT
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Amtrak is adding more trains between Chicago and Michigan in anticipation of the busiest travel week of the year.

The company says it will offer two additional eastbound trains and one additional westbound train on the Wolverine Service between Chicago and Kalamazoo/Ann Arbor, the day before Thanksgiving.

It will also operate two additional Wolverine Service round trips along the same route Friday, November 23rd through Sunday, November 25th.

Amtrak says the busiest travel days are typically the Tuesday and Wednesday before and the Saturday and Sunday following Thanksgiving, so it's encouraging passengers to book early for the best availability and pricing.
