Demand, bad weather causes slight uptick in chocolate prices

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Growing demand and bad weather for cocoa growers means you'll be paying more to fulfill your chocolate cravings.
The price for cocoa butter has risen 70 percent over the last 12 months, and the production cost of an average milk chocolate bar has surged by 25 percent over the same period.
But you won't see that big of a price hike.
Right now, a bar of milk chocolate in the U.S. is about 7 percent more than this time last year.
Dark chocolate lovers, however, will pay a little more for the higher cocoa content.
