Unemployment claims rise

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The number of Americans seeking jobless benefits jumped 20,000 last week.

The Labor Department says the monthly average, a less volatile measure, rose to the highest in 6 weeks.

The increase puts applications back to where they have fluctuated since early last year.
