DENSE FOG ADVISORY

Until 10 AM

The National Weather Service issues a DENSE FOG ADVISORY for all of West Michigan until 10 AM.  Fog may linger in some locations until midday.  Light winds, ample moisture near the ground are encouraging the formation of dense fog.  Because temperatures are near freezing, a light coating of ice may form on some road surfaces making them slick.  Please keep it safe this morning as you head back to work and school.

Gov. Snyder to sign Medicaid expansion legislation story image
DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) - Gov. Rick Snyder is set to sign legislation that would make more low-income adults eligible for health insurance through the federal health care law.

The state House approved the much-debated Medicaid expansion bill on a bipartisan 75-32 vote the day after Labor Day.

The signing ceremony is scheduled for Monday at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn.

Medicaid expansion is part of a strategy to ensure that nearly all Americans have health insurance under the 2010 Affordable Care Act. It was designed to cover the neediest uninsured people but became optional for states because of a Supreme Court decision.

Many GOP-led states opposed to "Obamacare" have declined the expansion.

But it was a major priority for Snyder, who's a Republican in his first term as Michigan's chief executive.
