Numbers in for first month of problem plagued story image
WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - We now know exactly how many people have signed up for new health insurance on the problem plagued website.

The highly anticipated numbers were released late Wednesday afternoon, and they are not good news for the Obama administration.

The White House says a little more than 106,000 people enrolled in health insurance plans during the first month of operation.

Most did so in states running their own exchanges, whereas less than 27,000 actually signed up on the federal website.

That number is much lower than predicted.

The White House initially hoped for 500,000 enrollees.
