(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A new study claims being pessimistic may help you live longer.
Researchers studied 40,000 adults over 10 years and found that those with low expectations of a satisfying future led healthier lives.
On the flip side, people who were overly optimistic had a greater risk of disability or death within ten years.
Scientists believe pessimism about the future may lead people to live more carefully, taking more health and safety precautions.
