Dentists: Secret to a perfect smile could be in your groceries story image
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The secret to a perfect smile might just lie in your grocery cart.

More and more dentists are saying the food we eat can help battle bad breath and gum disease, among other things.

So to combat any bad bacteria in our mouths, they're offering diet suggestions on top of floss and toothpaste.

For healthy smiles, they say eat apples, milk, nuts, and raisins, green tea, garlic, yogurt, and water.

Dentists say these foods should be used as an extra defense in addition to daily brushing and flossing.

Of course, they also recommend regular twice-yearly dental visits.
