Evidence of national decline in childhood obesity

Updated: Wednesday, August 7, 2013 |
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Health officials say they have seen the first evidence of a national decline in childhood obesity.

In a report released Tuesday, 18 states saw slight drops in obesity rates.

Only 3 states saw their rates increase.

The report is based on the heights and weights of children in a federal food program.

Nationwide, about 12 percent of boys and girls are obese.
