WYOMING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Wyoming man is recovering after receiving a lung transplant last week.
It was the first lung transplant ever performed in West Michigan.
59-year-old Joseph Steponski received a new right lung on February 4th at Spectrum Health.
Friday doctors say his prognosis for recovery is strong and doctors say that's a milestone for West Michigan because it means patients here have access to that kind of highly specialized care without the expense and stress of traveling. Plus they say, patients can recover close to friends and family at home.
