LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Michigan Department of Community Health has confirmed four cases of influenza in the state.

They say the illnesses were found in both children and adults.

Three cases were confirmed as the H1N1 swine flu virus, and one as a seasonal flu.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says because each flu season is unpredictable, it is important to get vaccinated as early as possible to avoid spreading.

They say it takes about two weeks from the time of the vaccination before it can fully protect you.
