(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A new study using special MRI's shows that solders who suffer mild brain injuries from explosions can still have problems with their brain more than four years after getting hurt.

Researchers say the veterans' mild injuries don't show up on standard cat scans or MRI's.

The research is aimed at finding better ways for the clinician to differentiate between mild traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder in vets in order to improve treatment.
