WIND ADVISORY

10 AM Until 2 AM Saturday

The National Weather Service maintains a WIND ADVISORY for nearly all of West Michigan from 10 AM this morning until 2 AM Saturday morning.  45 mph gusts are likely inland while 50 mph gusts are possible at the Lake Shore.  This kind of wind is capable of bringing down tree branches and creating some power outages.  Obviously, we hope that doesn't happen.  Winds blow from the northwest this morning then from the north by midday and beyond.  Stay with wwmt.com for your weather today and always!

Pfizer settles Protonix patent case for $2.15B story image
NEW YORK (AP) - Pfizer says it has reached a $2.15 billion settlement with a couple of generic drugmakers over sales of their versions of the heartburn drug Protonix.

The world's second-largest drugmaker says Teva Pharmaceutical Industries will pay $1.6 billion to Pfizer and Japanese drugmaker Takeda Pharmaceutical.

Another generic drugmaker, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, will pay $550 million.

Teva is one of the world's largest generic drugmakers. It started selling its generic version of Protonix in December 2007. Sun launched its own version in early 2008. The drug's U.S. patent expired in 2011.

Drugmaker Nycomed developed Protonix before the company was purchased by Takeda. Nycomed licensed Protonix to Wyeth, which Pfizer has since purchased.

Pfizer says it will receive 64 percent of the settlement proceeds.
