The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids maintains a LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY for Ottawa, Allegan, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Berrien, Cass, and St. Joe counties until 9 PM.  An additional 1" to 4" of snow are possible on northwest winds of 15 to 20 mph; icy roads are verified by several road reports.  Please be careful traveling as lows dip into the teens tonight; wind chills will be in the single digits.

Polio-like illness a mystery in California

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A polio-like illness has afflicted a small number of children in California since 2012, causing severe weakness or rapid paralysis in one or more limbs.

Doctors say the symptoms sometimes occur after a mild respiratory illness.

But investigating doctors say it's not polio, and they'll present their cases at an upcoming annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology.
