Research: Delays in stroke response can take months off of life

Updated: Friday, March 14, 2014 |
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - New research finds that every 15 minute delay in treatment costs about one month of healthy living for stroke survivors.

On the other hand, speeding up access to clot-busting drugs by even one minute means another day of disability-free life.

Researchers say the world's fastest stroke centers take an average of 20 minutes to start treatment after arrival.

Most centers in the U.S. take 70 to 80 minutes.
