WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES remain for all of West Michigan until 8 PM.  The expiration time is 4 PM in Berrien, Cass, St. Joe, and Branch counties.  1" to 3" of snow followed by freezing rain has left some roads slippery.  Areas of light snow and freezing drizzle won't do our roads any favors through sunset.  Please be careful traveling during your evening commute and beyond!

Stay with for your weather this afternoon and always!

Singing showtunes shows improvement in mental function for dementia patients

Updated: Wednesday, November 13, 2013 |
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - There is no cure for brain disease like Alzheimer's, but there are interesting ways to treat it--like belting out classic tunes from musicals.

Researchers from George Mason University found mental function improvement in elderly patients when they sang songs from "The Sound of Music," "Wizard of Oz," and "Oklahoma."

Even those with advanced stages of dementia saw improvement.
