GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - There's a new option at a West Michigan hospital that's offering up hope to patients suffering from epileptic seizures.
Surgeons at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids now have the ability to implant electrodes into the brain to monitor activity.
The electrodes stay in for two weeks, and help pinpoint where the problem is.
Without the electrodes, it can be challenging for surgeons to determine where exactly to operate.
The procedure is not new, but was done for the first time at Spectrum last week.
