KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Experts at Western Michigan University are warning about the growing danger of drug errors for senior citizens.
It's an occurrence they call poly-pharmacy--when one person is prescribed multiple drugs.
WMU professor Maureen Mickus is pushing for better use of electronic medical records, better communication between doctors and a national pharmacy database.
In some cases, older people go to different doctors and each doctor is prescribing them a different drug.
Those doctors often don't communicate with each other, raising the risk of a bad drug interaction.
