VICKSBURG, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A small West Michigan town hopes the Halloween holiday will bring an economic boost downtown.

Vicksburg's first professional haunted house will open to the public this weekend.

It's called the Chamber of Horrors, and it's being constructed by a husband and wife team, who are well known for their Halloween antics.

Dustin Morton and his wife Dusti have been working to get the haunted house ready for about two months now.

The Mortons are known for their elaborate displays at home, but this year, they stepped it up a notch to raise money for the Vicksburg Chamber of Commerce.

"We felt the entire area was very undeserved as far as scariness goes, so we thought we needed to fill that void," Dustin said. "We don't use any blood, we don't use any gore, we don't go for the shock value of that. We like the creepy, spooky, traditional haunted images."

The haunted house is located at the old Cole-Krum car dealership in Vicksburg.

It will be open to the public on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00.

Tickets can be purchased at businesses in downtown Vicksburg, or at the door.
