DENSE FOG ADVISORY

Until 10 AM

The National Weather Service issues a DENSE FOG ADVISORY for all of West Michigan until 10 AM.  Fog may linger in some locations until midday.  Light winds, ample moisture near the ground are encouraging the formation of dense fog.  Because temperatures are near freezing, a light coating of ice may form on some road surfaces making them slick.  Please keep it safe this morning as you head back to work and school.

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A West Michigan woman is leading the charge, hoping to open up more options for adults with autism in Kalamazoo County.

Catherine Pinto started AACORN Farm Board in 2010.

The goal is to create a residential farm for adults with autism.

This June, AACORN has started a vocational and skill building program at Tiller's International Farm, near Galesburg.

Right now, six adults with autism are taking part, doing chores and crafts at the farm.

"I think that it's not really unconditional love that the animals give, but it's unconditional acceptance," AACORN Farm board member Liz Farner said. "They don't care what color your skin is, if you can't speak, as long as you bring them their apple or bottle of milk."

Pinto believes it will cost $3 million and 40 acres of land to make AACORN Farm a reality.
