WAYLAND, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – The Michigan State Police post in Wayland has gotten two lifesaving gifts.

Wayland Ambulance donated two automated external defibrillators (AED), plus a training unit, to the post.

The AED units had been replaced and were going out of service.

The company has donated similar devices to Wayland Police and schools in the past.

The donation brings the post’s total to three, meaning almost all of the post’s troopers on the road will now have an AED in their cars.

“With the increase in the number of troopers on the road, we felt we should increase the number of AEDs available,” said Bob Hess, General Manager of Wayland Ambulance.

All state troopers are trained to use AEDs and take annual refresher courses. Accord to MSP, troopers are usually the first on the scene and getting help to people more quickly will save lives.
