DENSE FOG ADVISORY

Until 11 AM

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids issues a DENSE FOG ADVISORY until 11 AM for nearly every county in West Michigan save for our Indiana bordering counties of Berrien, Cass, St. Joe, and Branch.  It doesn't mean it won't be foggy there!  The combination of yesterday evening's rainfall, light winds while you were sleeping, and our unusually cool airmass is a near perfect recipe for visibilities under a mile and perhaps as low as 1/4 mile.  This is enough to change how you drive.  Please keep it safe this morning, and slow it down if you can.  Stay with wwmt.com for your weather!

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Grand Rapids Fire Department got a big hand on Tuesday to help make neighborhoods safer.

The department received a donation of more than $18,000 worth of smoke detectors and fire safety educational materials from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.

The program aims to reduce fires in high-risk neighborhoods.

The donated items will benefit about 200 homes with five smoke detectors each.
