GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Grand Rapids is promising a new spot for kids to have fun and families to come together.
Tuesday marks the completion of a new community garden at Congress Elementary in Grand Rapids.
The East Hills Council of Neighbors partnered with the school to start building the Cornelius Kos Community and School Garden last month.
The Kos family helped complete the garden with a $5,000 donation.
Tuesday, they celebrated with a ribbon-cutting at the school.
The community garden will be closed to the public during school hours, and families of students from Congress will have first rights to boxes in the garden.
A couple of boxes will also be reserved for educational purposes.
