Positively Michigan: Profiling 10-year-old Olivia story image
LAWTON, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - 10-year-old Olivia Cramer is a 5th grade student at Lawton Middle School.

Olivia was born with a condition, where one leg is shorter than the other, so she must wear a prosthetic leg.

But despite that, Olivia has become an inspiration to her basketball team.

"I decided to play basketball because it's one of the only things that are in season right now, and Sarah told me I had to," Olivia said with a laugh.

Olivia is just like any other 10-year-old girl. She has a great sense of humor, and a lot of energy; but her leg makes her extra-special.

"She has what's called PFFD," said her mother Megan Cramer. "Which means when she was in utero, something happened to stop the flow of blood to her bones so they don't grow at the same rate. She has a full leg, but it is a considerable amount shorter than her other leg.

"When she was little, she would be on her knee on one leg, and her foot on the other, and that's how she learned to walk," Megan continued.

From walking to running, Olivia let nothing stop her. She decided to play basketball after participating in Girls on the Run.

"Olivia is wonderful on the team; she's an inspiration to all her friends," said Coach Martha Lull. "She never gives up, she gives it all her best."

Olivia also plays volleyball, track, and plans to try softball next.
