OKLAHOMA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Following the botched execution of an Oklahoma inmate in April, the department of corrections has increased security for its director because of death threats.

Clayton Lockett died from an apparent heart attack on April 29th after there was a problem with an IV in his groin.

Since then, several threatening emails and untraced phone calls have been sent to Director Robert Patton.

The department is stepping up security, recently buying a bulletproof SUV and providing him with body guards. This is according to the Tulsa World newspaper.

A spokesperson says Patton does not have 24-hour security, just when he travels.
