WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES

UNTIL 8 PM

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES remain for all of West Michigan for an accumulation of snow followed by sleet and freezing rain and even plain rain.  The ADVISORIES last until 8 PM everywhere save for Berrien, Cass, St. Joe, and Branch counties where the expiration time is 1 PM.  Snowfall ranges from 1" to 3" near and south of I-96 including Kalamazoo.  North of I-96, amounts may be greater in a range from 2" to 4".  Once snow transitions to freezing rain, ice accumulations of 1/10" perhaps upwards of 2/10" are possible.  Plus, secondary and back roads are likely to remain icy even when air temperatures reach the middle 30s this afternoon.  Please be careful traveling!

Ebola outbreak stretching resources in West Africa

Ebola outbreak stretching resources in West Africa story image

WEST AFRICA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Medical organizations fighting to contain Ebola across four West African nations are being stretched beyond their capacity.

With nearly 1000 dead and almost 2000 now infected, a leading health official in Liberia says they do not have enough beds to treat the sick.

Many infected people are being left to die alone in their villages, with some of the dead being dumped in the street.

Researchers believe they have now tracked down the start of the virus to a two year old boy from a remote village in Guinea.

But it wasn't until March that the mystery disease was identified.
