Temporary cease fire in Gaza Updated: Tuesday, August 5, 2014 GAZA STRIP (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Both Israel and Hamas militants say they are willing to give peace a chance one more time. A new temporary cease fire began Tuesday morning at 1:00am Eastern Time. Egypt proposed this temporary truce in an effort to end a month of fighting between the Israelis and Hamas militants that has left almost two thousand people dead. Negotiations toward a more permanent cease-fire will take place in Egypt. The U.S. strongly endorses the truce and is urging both sides to respect it.
