THAILAND (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Thailand's government is banning four couples from the United States and Australia from leaving the country with their surrogate babies.

The government crackdown follows a recent surrogate controversy between an Australian couple and a Thai woman.

The woman says the couple left her with one of the twins because he has downs syndrome.

Thai officials say the couples will have to apply for court orders to take the babies out of the country, which could take months.
