Man on life support after fight over cigarettes Updated: Friday, August 1, 2014 VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - One man is in jail and another is in critical condition following a fight over cigarettes in Van Buren County. It happened at the end of June at the Cornerstone Adult Foster Care Facility off M-43 in Bangor. The fight happened over cigarettes, and ended with one punch to the head. 23-year-old Gregory Brandon Hooper has been charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less that murder. This, after police say he punched the victim, saying that man had used the bathroom on his cigarettes. Both men were staying at the Cornerstone Adult Foster Care Facility in Bangor. Hooper was worried he got a disease from the contaminated cigarettes. That's when he hit the other man in the head. That man is on life support at a Kalamazoo hospital. DHS is investigating this incident. Because of that police are not releasing more information. Right now Hooper is being held on a $500,000. The victim still on life support.
