WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY, FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY

TODAY

The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORYfor most of West Michigan today through 4 pm. A mix of freezing drizzle and sleet this morning will lay a thin layer of ice on many roads across the area. Light snow and rain this afternoon will contribute to potentially hazardous driving conditions.

The National Weather Service has also issued a FREEZING RAIN ADVISORYfor the following counties, effective this morning from 5 to 9 o'clock: Berrien, Cass, St. Joseph, Branch, and Hillsdale. Conditions are favorable in the Advisory area for the formation of freezing drizzle/rain, which has the potential of creating slippery/hzardous driving conditions. Temperatures are expected to warm above freezing by late this morning, taking the threat of freezing rain away.

Accused killer could take stand in his defense story image

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - An accused killer could take the stand Thursday in his murder trial.

47-year-old Jackie McConnell is charged with second degree murder in the February death of his girlfriend 42-year-old Donna Frost.

During their initial search for Frost, who was reported missing, police tracked McConnell down in North Carolina.

Video of a police interview played in court Wednesday showed detectives pleading with McConnell to give Frost's family closure. And 2 ½ hours in, he did.

Detective: "Look at me, we need to find her right now - where is she?"
McConnell: "At Rusty's farm in a hole. I hit her too hard with my fist. She didn't deserve it."

Police say McConnell taped an apology to Frost's family when he was brought back to Michigan.
