The National Weather Service issues a DENSE FOG ADVISORY for all of West Michigan until 10 AM.  Fog may linger in some locations until midday.  Light winds, ample moisture near the ground are encouraging the formation of dense fog.  Because temperatures are near freezing, a light coating of ice may form on some road surfaces making them slick.  Please keep it safe this morning as you head back to work and school.

Deadly Crash in Cass County

HOWARD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Deputies in Cass county are investigating a deadly crash.

Deputies say it happened around 9:50 Saturday night on M-60 near Yankee Street in Howard Township.

They say 19 year old Austin Brouwer, from Osceola, Indiana, was driving north on M 60 at a high rate of speed, when he passed a vehicle on the right side of the road and lost control of the vehicle in the dirt.

The vehicle went back onto the paved portion of the highway, hitting a vehicle driven by 32 year old Douglas Irving of Niles.

Brouwer's vehicle then went into the grass and flipped multiple times.

He sustained serious injuries from the crash and was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

His front seat passenger, 21 year old Janet Menting from South Bend was airlifted and is in critical condition.

The back seat passenger, 21 year old Scott Voresis also from South Bend was taken to Niles Lakeland Hospital where he was treated and released.

23 year old Rayana Dobrodt, from Mishawaka, Indiana was also riding in the back seat and was transported to Niles Lakeland Hospital, but died from her injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle, Douglas Irving, was also taken to Nile Lakeland Hospital where he was treated and released.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and seat belts were worn.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the crash and anyone with information is asked to contact them with information.
