DENSE FOG ADVISORY

UNTIL 10 AM

The National Weather Service issues a DENSE FOG ADVISORY for all of West Michigan until 10 AM.  Many reports of dense fog already exist, and your visibility may become worse before noticeable improvements.  Recent rainfall, high moisture levels, especially near the ground, and light winds all combine to create fog.  Slowing down and increasing your stopping distance are a few ways to increase your safety while driving.

Deputies investigating fatal crash in Ottawa Co.

Updated: Tuesday, September 2, 2014

ZEELAND, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Deputies in Ottawa County are investigating a crash that killed one person on the I-196 business loop at Main Street.

Investigation shows a van driven by 68-year-old Jose Garcia was traveling westbound at a red light at Main, and drove into a Ford minivan, driven by 82-year-old Henry Redder, traveling northbound on Main.

The impact pushed both vehicles across the road where they hit a truck that was then pushed into another vehicle.

Garcia is listed in stable condition at the Zeeland Community Hospital, but Redder was killed in the crash.

Both men were wearing seat belts.
