Dogs rescued from hoarding situation nearly adoption-ready story image

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A West Michigan animal shelter is getting ready to find new homes for several dogs who were found living in a home with unsanitary conditions.

The Kent County Circuit Court made a decision to permanently remove 37 dogs from Kimberly Savino's custody.

She is now facing a felony charge of animal cruelty and neglect.

In late June, the Kent County Animal Shelter issued a warrant to check on the welfare of the dogs at Savino's home.

When they arrived, the dogs were found in various stages of neglect and illness.

The dogs, who are not yet considered healthy for adoption, will remain in the shelter's care.
