(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A week from Tuesday, Michigan voters head to the polls, and there is an issue the business community will be watching closely. It's called Proposal 1.
It's a tax cut for businesses, but supporters say it is designed in a way that is will not take money away from local governments.

Current state representative, and state senate candidate, Margaret O'Brien (R-Portage) discusses Proposal 1 and what it means for businesses.

State Rep. Sean McCann (D-Kalamazoo), who will be running for the same senate seat, released a statement to Newschannel 3 on Proposal 1. He says, "I support Proposal 1 as it will improve Michigan's economy, help local business owners and not reduce essential services. The PPT [personal property tax] was overly complicated and a disincentive to expand production. I support fair and equitable ways for everyone to contribute their fair share for a stronger Michigan."
