Until 10 AM

The National Weather Service issues a DENSE FOG ADVISORY for all of West Michigan until 10 AM.  Fog may linger in some locations until midday.  Light winds, ample moisture near the ground are encouraging the formation of dense fog.  Because temperatures are near freezing, a light coating of ice may form on some road surfaces making them slick.  Please keep it safe this morning as you head back to work and school.

Israel accepts Egyptian cease-fire proposal

Updated: Monday, August 4, 2014

JERUSALEM (AP) - A senior Israeli official says the Israeli government has accepted an Egyptian cease-fire proposal to end a monthlong war against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip.

The official says a preliminary 72-hour truce will begin at 8 a.m. local time on Tuesday. An Israeli delegation will head to Egypt for talks meant to work out a long-term truce in the next three days.

Palestinian officials have already said they accepted the Egyptian proposal.

The official said Israel will be watching "with a certain amount of skepticism," since previous cease-fire plans have quickly collapsed.

He spoke on condition of anonymity pending a formal announcement by the Israeli government.
