LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids issues a LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY for Oceana, Muskegon, Ottawa, Allegan, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Berrien, Cass, and St. Joe counties until 9 PM.  2" to 6" of snow are possible on northwest winds of 15 to 20 mph bringing lake effect snow bands near and across US 131, at times.  Some locations will see more than 6", especially closer to Lake Michigan.  Roads are slippery and become more tricky once the sun sets.

Mich. parks plan shows surrounding Perseid meteor shower story image

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - State officials are encouraging everyone to visit their local park next week to enjoy one of the biggest and most visible astronomical events of the year.

From August 9 to the 16th, state parks across Michigan will stay open late and host Meteors and S'Mores events for the Perseid meteor shower.

A few parks will also offer free movies to complement the natural light show.
