BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3 ) - A Battle Creek mother accused of tying up her son and beating him was expected in court Monday, but had her hearing rescheduled.

A judge was to have decided if there's enough evidence to send Sara Mendez-Lucas to trial on charges of third degree child abuse. That hearing will is now scheduled for August 4th.

She was arrested last Saturday at a home on Rittenhouse Avenue after police say they found a 14-year-old tied up in the dining room with belt marks on his body.

Police had been checking on a tip.

The boy had run away from home 3-days earlier.
