PAW PAW, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Troopers from Paw Paw are starting a new program to keep kids going back to school safe on the roads.

They will be following around buses during the first week of school, looking for unsafe driving violations, and vehicles that disregard school bus stop lights.

Any driver stopped for a violation will be written a citation.

Citations for school bus violations typically cost $190, and three points on your driving record.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says 174 children died in school-transportation related crashes from 2003 to 2012.
