LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - There is new information out about the benefits of bicycling to Michigan's economy.

M-DOT researched five cities across the state, including Grand Rapids and Holland.

According to the report, biking brings in more than $650 million per year.

That includes things like tourism, retail stores, and employment.

Last year, M-DOT says 39 percent of Michigan households used a bike for transportation.

The study is the first in a two-part M-DOT study that will also cover bicycling events and tours.
