BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - An Emmett Township police officer accused of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 16 has been arraigned Friday.

State police arrested Troy Estree Wednesday morning.

He's been sitting one county over in the Branch County Jail for his own safety.

He has been charged with two counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct.

We don't know the reason why at this point, but a special prosecutor for this case was transferred from Eaton to Kalamazoo County.

The allegations, according to state police detectives, are that Estree sexually assaulted a relative inside his Emmett Township home on two separate occasions last month while off duty.

Estree's bond has been set at $150,000. He has also been ordered to have no contact with minors or weapons.
