VICKSBURG, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Vicksburg Village Councilman is facing charges after he has been accused of improperly transporting medical marijuana.

Kalamazoo County Assistant Prosecutor Carrie Klein tells Newschannel 3 that deputies stopped 50-year-old Marc Boyer for speeding last month.

A sheriff's deputy then spotted a tin with medical marijuana inside the vehicle.

State law requires it be transported in the trunk.

The violation is a misdemeanor.

If convicted, Boyer faces up to 3 months in jail.
