KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Kalamazoo County Undersheriff says that the vitamin tampering case has been taken over by the FBI.

Investigators are now looking for a person of interest who they say is replacing pills with cat food, chocolate and prescription drugs like blood thinners and heart pills.

Surveillance video shows the suspect's main target is the Mega Red Ultra Strength Omega 3 Krill Oil and it's happened at Meijer stores across Kalamazoo County.

Police confirmed to Newschannel 3 that they do believe some store employees re-stocked the returned tampered items, but cannot say how many--if any--the person of interest may have placed on shelves.

Meijer representatives said unequivocally that Meijer policy is to not re-stopck any items that can be ingested.

Investigators say it's unclear exactly how many stores have been affected.
