I-Team Waste Watch: Gull Lake Millage

I-Team Waste Watch: Gull Lake Millage story image
RICHLAND, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Newschannel 3 I-Team is investigating the actions of school leaders as they try to raise taxes in one local community.

On Tuesday, voters in the Gull Lake Community Schools turned down a tax increase by five votes, and we now know that the exact same ballot question will be voted on again in May.

One day before the tax increase election, the I-Team learned that Gull Lake school leaders had already decided to run the exact same tax increase election again in May, even before they knew what the result of Tuesday's election was going to be.

On top of that, there are questions regarding potential waste, and more questions about the choice of the election day.

Newschannel 3's Chief Investigative Reporter David Bailey joined us on Waste Watch to tell us why there's controversy here.
