Company Destroyed by Fire

LOWELL (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - At least one firefighter was injured while trying to stop a business from burning to the ground.

The firefighter fell off the back of the fire truck while en route to a fire at the Michigan Wire Processing Company.

A sales and marketing representative for the company said the fire started around 5:30p.m. Saturday on West Main Street in Lowell. It is unclear at this time as to what caused the fire.

Two people were inside during the blaze but were able to escape uninjured due to a firewall inside the building. However, the firewall in the middle of the plant is what caught on fire but also contained the fire from spreading through the entire building.

At least five fire departments were called on the scene to battle the flames.

The company employs around 50 people and has another plant in downtown Lowell where some of the production will be moved to.
