Flags across state to be lowered for Flint soldier

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Gov. Jennifer Granholm has ordered flags to be lowered Friday in honor of a Flint soldier who was killed in Iraq.

 

Army Sgt. 1st Class Steven J. Chevalier (sha-vel-EE'-ay) died July 9 from wounds suffered when his patrol vehicle was struck by a grenade in Samarra.

 

The 35-year-old Chevalier was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Ky.
