Detroit, Dallas Airport Food is Healthiest
Comments 0 | Recommend 0ROMULUS, Mich. (AP) - It might not quite meet the standard for cuisine, but the food at Detroit Metropolitan Airport is nutritious enough to top a list compiled by a health organization.
Metro and Dallas-Fort Worth tied for first place in the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine's rankings of healthy food choices at major airports.
The committee's dietitians say 95 percent of Metro's restaurants offer at least one low-fat, cholesterol-free vegetarian entrDee. The Washington-based group ranked 15 of the busiest U.S. airports that chose to take part in the survey.
Susan Levin, a registered dietitian with the committee, tells the Detroit Free Press that travelers should consider healthful food offered at airports. She says air travel alone can make people dehydrated, constipated and peevish, and junk food can makes it worse.
