$4 for gas

KALAMAZOO (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - It has happened. Gas hit $4 a gallon Tuesday.

The experts warned us, and it has hit in Kalamazoo much sooner than we thought

Most stations are in the neighborhood of $3.85 a gallon, but one officially hit the $4 mark.

Well, actually it is $3.99 and 9/10's, but just call it $4.

We heard the alerts for later in the day but some stations spiked well before the lunch rush.

Drivers are paying the most they've ever paid for a gallon of gas in the area.

Congress is expected to ask President Bush to stop stockpiling oil in the nation's reserve Tuesday.

It's about 97 percent full right now and lawmakers say it doesn't make sense to stockpile oil at these prices.
