Victims sue over hazing incident
Comments 0 | Recommend 0COOPERSVILLE, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A hazing incident at an Ottawa County high school has led to two multi-million dollar lawsuits.
Details of the hazing came to light last year during Coopersville High School's baseball season.
Apparently several team members were involved.
Four J.V. players were expelled, suspected of assaulting four students, some sexually.
Now two of the victims' families are suing the district, four coaches and four students.
Both lawsuits claim students attacked the plaintiffs in a locker room and that some of it was sexual abuse.
Court documents also say the coaches knew about the hazing and encouraged it.
Each family is asking for a jury trial and damages of more than $5 million.
