IDAHO (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A 10-year-old girl in Idaho has given birth, becoming one of the youngest mothers in the country.

This wasn't because of a poor decision on that girls part, an older man raped her.

Prosecutors charged an illegal immigrant with the crime who was already in jail on other rape charges.

Doctors say that girl and her baby are doing okay physically, but counselors say emotionally, she may never recover.

"Children go through developmental stages and when something seriously traumatic hits, you tend to stop the development phases at that point," said counselor Matt Christiansen.

If convicted, the man could spend life in prison.
