Kalamazoo Named As Top Ten Turn Around City
KALAMAZOO (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Kalamazoo has been named as one of the top ten turn around cities in the last decade.
The announcement was made at the Mary Jane Stryker Theater, on North Rose Street, early Friday.
Featured guests speakers included Robert Doud, Bronson Hospital, and Kalamazoo DDA Chairman; Chris Crowell, owner of Gazelle Sports; Ken Nacci, President of DKI; and several others.
The list was put together by Urban Land Institute. It has Kalamazoo ranked with the likes of Washington DC, Memphis and Philadelphia. Kalamazoo has transformed downtown with new business, arts and locally owned restaurants.
"I think it really demonstrates to all of us in Kalamazoo that what we're doing must be right. We just have to stay the course, and have a vision, and be true to that vision," said Robert Doud, Kalamazoo DDA Chairman.
Representatives from 40 counties in Michigan and Indiana were on hand for Friday's event. They wanted to take ideas for their own communities.
