KENT CITY (AP) - A 3-month-old kitten with its ears cut off will start fresh in 2008 at a new home.

The kitten named "Eeyore" will be adopted. The stray was found December 19 near Kent City in Kent County.

Besides having its ears cut off, it also had suffered a hernia and nose injury.

Humane Society officials say its ears had been cut by a sharp blade, and the kitten also had been hit or kicked.

Humane Society director Karen Terpstra says that authorities hope to identify a suspect in the case.

A reward is being offered to anyone who can help find the person responsible. There is also a reward fund set up at the Rogue River Community Credit Union in Sparta. The phone number is (616) 887-8262.
